Men’s Tennis Wins Eighth Straight

FAIRFIELD, Connecticut – The Marist men's tennis team won its eighth straight match on Tuesday, as the Red Foxes prevailed at Fairfield by a score of 6-1 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match.

“I'm very proud of the way we competed in singles, for after losing the doubles, frequently teams will lose momentum,” head coach Tim Smith said. “All the guys showed up and won their matches in straight sets, and it was a good win against a solid team.”

Fairfield started off by earning the doubles point with victories in two of the three matches. Junior Javier Restrepo and junior Gianlucca Massa prevailed at first doubles, 6-3. This tandem has now won seven straight doubles matches

The Red Foxes then quickly rebounded to win all six singles matches in straight sets. Restrepo (first singles) and Massa (third singles) won both of their matches on the day, with Restrepo earning his seventh consecutive singles triumph. The Red Foxes also received triumphs from junior Rudolf Kurz (second singles), freshman Christopher Gladden (fourth singles), senior Dylan Fletcher (fifth singles), and freshman Lars Schouten (sixth singles)
