POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Behind a career day from
Sarah Austin and solid play from
Nikki DeSerpa and
Taylor van der Biezen, Marist picked up a 3-1 win over Quinnipiac. Marist moves into 10-9 overall and 7-2 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Marist played a tight first set that featured eight ties and five lead changes. The Red Foxes started to build some momentum before the media time-out, using a 3-0 run to take a 15-12 lead. Quinnipiac reclaimed the lead and looked to take set one with a 23-21 lead, but a Bobcat service error gave the ball back to the Red Foxes and Marist took the set 25-23.

Quinnipiac came out strong in set two, landing its first nine of eleven points through kills or service aces. The 11-3 score forced Marist to take an early timeout. The Red Foxes began to chip away at the Bobcat's lead, tying it up a 23 all with a service ace from
McKinley Fox. But back to back kills from Quinnipiac ended Marist's comeback attempt.

The Red Foxes grabbed in early 8-5 lead, getting kills from four different players. Quinnipiac reclaimed the lead but the Red Foxes took it back with a couple of kills from DeSerpa to make it 15-13 before a media timeout. Austin caught fire after the timeout, landing five kills and assisting with a block to lead Marist to a 25-19 set win.

Set four was all Marist from the start as the Red Foxes would go on to win it 25-12. They completely limited the Quinnipiac attack and finished with a side-out percentage of 100.

- Austin had a career high 18 kills while DeSerpa was one shy of Austin's mark.
- Marist played excellent in front of the net, finishing with 13 blocks and limited Quinnipiac to three. Stephanie Stone led with seven while Chidera Udeh had six.
- The Red Foxes finished with .357 hitting percentage and limited the Bobcats to .181
- Van der Biezen reached 100 career service aces. She also had a career high five kills.
"Offensively we were able to spread the floor, everyone was scoring." Stated Head Coach
Lauren Amundson. "I thought Taylor did a great job running an offense that was hard to defend. When our left sides are hitting over .300, middles did a good job keeping their blockers honest. Great offense all around and I think that starts with passing."

Marist will conclude its home stand Saturday, October 13 against Siena. Match is set for 1:00 p.m.
