POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Women's basketball forward Sarah Barcello earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors for her performance in her first career start against Massachusetts on Dec. 29.

The Chandler, AZ native scored 8 points, shooting 50% from the field. She made 2-of-5 3-pointers and grabbed a rebound in career-high minutes for the Red Foxes against the Minutewomen. This is Barcello's first weekly award in her time at the collegiate level, and the first Rookie of the Week award for Marist this season. 

Women's basketball will hit the road for the MAAC season opener at Niagara on Thursday, Jan. 3. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
