POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist water polo team returns to Poughkeepsie for its first home games of the season at the Marist Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 25
th.
The Red Foxes will play the Brown Bears (9:30 a.m.) and the #13 Hartwick Hawks (2:30 p.m.) as part of the all-day five team tournament.
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE:
9:30am - Brown v Marist
11:00am - Hartwick v Siena
1:00pm - Brown v Iona
2:30pm - Hartwick v Marist
4:00pm - Brown v Siena
LAST TIME OUT:
Marist is coming off the Princeton Invitational last Saturday, where they beat the Bucknell Bison 7-6, before falling to the George Washington Colonials 15-11.
TEAM LEADERS:
Through 10 games, sophomore
Anais Mathes is tied for first with 29 shots and 13 goals, is second with seven assists and 20 points and is tied for fourth with seven steals.
Junior
Grace Doerfler is first with 21 drawn kickouts, tied for first with 13 goals, second with 28 shots and third with 15 points.
Junior co-captain
Katherine Tijerina is first with nine assists, 16 steals and 21 points, tied for first with 29 shots and second with 12 goals and six drawn kick outs.
SCOUTING THE BEARS:
Brown enters the tournament with an overall record of 2-4. On Feb. 3 at their own Bruno Classic Tournament, the Bears fell to the Red Foxes 11-8.
Sophomore Lexi Atwell leads the team with 13 goals and is second with 19 shots and nine steals.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS:
Hartwick enters the tournament ranked #13 in the Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Association Week 6 Poll, a 9-2 overall record and riding a seven game win streak. On Jan. 27
th at the Michigan Invite, the Haws beat Marist 12-9.
Sophomore Tori Wilson leads Hartwick with 22 goals, 15 drawn kickouts and 36 points, is second with 14 assists and is third with eight steals.

Following the tournament, the Red Foxes head to the Indiana Classic next weekend where they will play Santa Clara (11:15 a.m.) and Washington and Jefferson (4:15 p.m.) on Saturday and Hartwick (11:45 a.m.) and host Indiana (3:30 p.m.) on Sunday.
