POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's basketball team will travel to St. John's for the first round of the Postseason of the Women's National Invitation Tournament on Thursday, March 15. Game time is now set for 7 p.m.
St. John's is 16-14 overall this season, and went 9-9 in the Big East. This is the sixth meeting all-time between the Red Foxes and Red Storm, with the most recent coming in the 2015-16 season. St. John's leads the all-time series, 4-1.
The winner of the Marist-St. John's will face the winner of the Penn-Albany game, which will take place on Friday, March 16.
Here is the schedule for reach round of the Postseason WNIT:
- Round 1 – March 14-16
- Round 2 – March 17-20
- Round 3 – March 21-23
- Round 4 – March 24-26
- Semifinals – March 28-29
- Championship – March 31, 3 pm ET
This is the Red Foxes' second Postseason WNIT appearance in program history. The Red Foxes fell to Temple in the first round of the 2015 tournament.
Marist (20-13) is appearing in postseason play for the 12
th time in program history, all of which have occurred in the 16 years of head coach
Brian Giorgis' tenure. The Red Foxes have won at least 20 games in a season 13 times under Giorgis.
The Marist Athletics Department will offer fan buses and tickets to the Red Foxes' first round Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) at St. John's on Thursday, March 15. The cost of the bus transportation and ticket package will be $30 and can be purchased online or at the Marist Ticket Office in the McCann Center. The deadline to sign up is Thursday, March 15, at 9 a.m.
