Softball Heads To Texas A&M For Reveille Classic

Red Foxes To Play Five Games, Two vs. Nationally-Ranked Aggies

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team is back in action this weekend with five games at the Reveille Classic in College Station, Texas.

SCHEDULE
The Red Foxes will play two games against the University of Connecticut, two games against nationally-ranked Texas A&M, and one game against Michigan State. There will be two games apiece on Friday and Saturday, and one game on Sunday. The full schedule is below, with all times Eastern:
 
Friday:
  • 1:15 p.m. vs. UConn
  • 4 p.m. vs. Texas A&M (SEC Plus)
Saturday:
  • 11 a.m. vs. UConn
  • 4 p.m. vs. Michigan State
Sunday
  • 1:15 p.m. vs. Texas A&M (SEC Plus)
SEC PLUS
Marist's games against Texas A&M on Friday and Sunday will be carried on SEC Plus, which is available through the WatchESPN app. Blackout restrictions do not apply.
             
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Red Foxes picked up a 6-5 road victory over the Houston Baptist University Huskies on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Ali Milam had a career afternoon, driving in five of the Red foxes' six runs in the game, three of which came on her second home run of the season. Milam is on a 12-game hitting streak. Senior Kourtney Paul drove in the other run for Marist with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Freshman Nicole Teague picked up her first career victory for Marist, allowing just one earned run in 5.1 innings of relief.
 
AWARDS
Junior Megan Beiermeister is fresh off being named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. Beiermeister picked up two victories last week, both complete games, with a 0.50 ERA and 12 strikeouts. The opposition hit just .163 against her, and she allowed just eight total hits. Beiermeister is having a stellar season thus far, pitching to a 4-2 record with a 1.63 ERA and 31 strikeouts. She also has one save on the year.
 
 
SCOUTING UCONN
The Huskies are 11-15 so far this season, and are coming off a 6-1 win over Texas A&M last night. Overall, the team is hitting .221/.306/.294, and has an ERA of 2.65. Jill Stockley has a team-best 1.88 ERA in 74.2 innings pitched this season, with 49 strikeouts. Olivia Singleton leads the Huskies with a .311 average, and has a team-high four homers and 12 RBIs.
 

SCOUTING TEXAS A&M
The #7/#9 Aggies are 24-4 this season and 21-2 at home this season, and they will be hosting the upcoming tournament. However, the Aggies were defeated by UConn 6-1 last night. Overall, the team is hitting an impressive .325/.413/.470 with a 1.83 team ERA. Trinity Harrington has thrown five complete games, and a total of 49.2 innings, for the Aggies and has a 1.55 ERA with a 7-1 record and 37 strikeouts. The team has six regulars hitting above .300, led by Kelbi Fortenberry with a .392 average. Tori Vidales leads the team with six homers and 35 RBIs.
 
SCOUTING MICHIGAN STATE
The Spartans are 10-11 this season. This past weekend, they competed in the Louisville Slugger Invite at Long Beach State. Michigan State played three games, finishing 1-2. They suffered losses in the first two games, losing 4-2 to Long Beach State on Friday and losing 10-0 to UCLA on Saturday. However, the team bounced back with a 6-5 win over San Diego State on Sunday. Overall, the team is hitting .255/.361/.357 with an ERA of 2.33. Kristina Zalewski has a team best 1.33 ERA in 55.2 innings, including five complete games. She has 48 strikeouts, and opponents are batting .226 against her. Lea Foerster is first on the team in homers (3) and total bases (40), and second in average (.371) and RBIs (9).
 

NEXT UP
The Red Foxes head to Raleigh, North Carolina for the RDU/RTP Challenge. The first game is on Friday, March 23 against Kennesaw State at 12:15 p.m.
