WEST LONG BRANCH, New Jersey – Junior second baseman
Brandi Coon of the Marist softball team was named Google Cloud Academic All-District for the second straight year.
Coon is a Software Development major who has been named to the Dean's List in all five of her complete semesters at Marist by virtue of having a grade-point average over 3.6. She has been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team and to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll each year she has been eligible.
Coon is a three-year starter who was named Second Team All-MAAC and Second Team All-Region in 2017, when she led the MAAC with a .443 batting average in conference games. She was also named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2016, when Marist set a program record with 45 wins and advanced to NCAA Tournament play.
To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, a student-athlete must have spent at least two prior semesters at his or her institution, have played in over 50 percent of the team's games, and have a grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.
Marist returns to action in the 2018 MAAC Softball Championship at 2 p.m. against Iona in an elimination game.
