POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team will play a non-conference doubleheader against Lafayette on Wednesday, May 2. The games will mark the conclusion of the non-conference schedule. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The Red Foxes are 21-27 so far this season and 13-19 in non-conference games. The team is 6-8 on the road this season, while they are 8-6 at home.
LAST TIME OUT
Marist celebrated Senior Day with a sweep in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheader against Saint Peter's on Sunday, April 30. The Red Foxes won game one 9-1 in six innings and went on to win game two 9-0 in five innings. Junior
Brooke Peterson (4-3) picked up the win in game one, going 5.1 innings and allowing just one earned run. Freshman
Nicole Teague (3-7) pitched a complete game shutout in game two, allowing just three hits and striking out two. Senior
Miranda Perez was on fire all day, going a combined 4-for-5 with two runs scored, and RBI, and a stolen base.
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
The Leopards are 7-37 so far this season. Last time out, Lafayette was swept in a non-conference doubleheader against Drexel. They lost game one 5-2, and then ended up losing game two 7-6. Overall, the team is hitting .220/.311/.338, with a team ERA of 6.12. Maddie Wensel is the team's leading hitter with a .317 average in 104 at bats. Paige Grover leads the Leopards with eight homers, 20 RBIs, 28 walks, 34 hits, and 29 runs scored. Alexis Randall has a team-best 5.34 ERA in 119.1 innings pitched. Randall also leads the team in strikeouts (29), BAA (.338), and complete games (seven).

The Red Foxes conclude the regular season with a trip to New Jersey for two MAAC doubleheaders. Marist will travel to West Long Branch for a doubleheader against conference-leading Monmouth Hawks on Saturday, May 5. The Red Foxes will then play at Rider the following day. First pitch both days is scheduled for noon.
