LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey – The Marist men's and women's outdoor track and field are gearing up for the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship, which is being held on the campus of Rider University in Lawrenville, NJ on Saturday and Sunday.
The Red Foxes enter the championships having placed fifth (women) and seventh (men) in the 2018 Indoor Championship on Feb 17-18 at the Armory in New York City.
LAST TIME OUT:
JuniorÂ
Jordan Casey qualified for the ECAC Championships with a big, breakthrough effort in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Penn Relays last week. Casey improved by more than 13 seconds in the event, breaking 11 minutes for the first time, and placing 22
nd overall in 10:51.90. Her previous best was set two weeks ago at Bucknell.

In the Olympic Development 5,000-meter racewalk, junior Katie Miale powered to a personal-best time of 25:56.81, placing sixth overall. In the 5,000-meter run, freshmanÂ
Hayley Collins ran an outdoor personal-best time of 17:17.28. And in the 400-meter hurdles, junior Debbie Boerke once again dipped under the ECAC standard in the event, placing 20
th in 1:02.88

SeniorÂ
Dietrich Mosel ran an outdoor personal-best time and posted the fastest Penn Relays time in school history at 5,000 meters, placing 52
nd in his event at the prestigious meet on Thursday night. Mosel went out in a blistering pace (4:33 through the mile, 9:13 through two miles) and hung on for an IC4A qualifying mark.

In the 10,000-meter run, sophomoreÂ
Christopher Rivas placed 23
rd in 31:49.85, his second-fastest time at the distance. Earlier this spring, Rivas qualified for the IC4A Championships in the event.

Marist was also in action at the Yale Springtime Invitational on Sunday. FreshmanÂ
Gianna Tedeschi powered her way to a pair of qualifying marks in the 3,000-meter run. Tedeschi stormed to a personal-best time of 9:59.92, placing second overall. The time qualified her for the ECAC Championships (qualifying mark = 10:00.24) as well as the USATF Junior Championships (qualifying mark = 10:00.00). Tedeschi utilized a strong finishing kick to garner the coveted qualifying times.

--Junior Debbie Boerke placed third in the 400-meter dash.

On the men's side, the Red Foxes had a league best 26 student-athletes named to the MAAC All-Academic Team. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
