BLOOMINGTON, Indiana –
Lauren Harris qualified for the World Junior Track & Field Championships on Sunday morning by virtue of her second-place finish in the 10,000-meter racewalk in the USA Track & Field Junior Championships at Indiana University.
Harris finished in a time of 54:32.03, and contended with humid conditions and temperatures in the 80s for a race that started at 8:30 a.m. The world junior championships will take place in Finland in July.
Harris had previously qualified for the World Racewalking Championships.

Late Sunday afternoon,
Maria Smith finished seventh in the 3,000 meters in a time of 10:29.62 in even more oppressive conditions, with the temperature climbing over 90 and the heat index over 100.

Gianna Tedeschi competed in the 5,000 meters on Saturday night as the Marist women's track & field program began competition in this year's USA Track & Field Junior Championships.

Collins placed eighth in a time of 17:24.88, while Tedeschi was 10
th in a time of 17:32.87.

The start of the race was backed up just over an hour due to lightning in the area. Collins and Tedeschi contended with the heat, as temperatures were in the low 80s with a heat index over 90 during the race.
