Ali Milam of the Marist softball team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Milam had two outstanding performances as Marist opened its season with a 13-3 win over Saint Peter's and an 8-1 triumph at Seton Hall this past Saturday. Here are some of her highlights:
- Milam had a 3.179 OPS (2.429 slugging, .750 on-base).
- She homered three times and drove in 10 runs.
- She went 5-for-7 with five runs scored, and all of her hits went for extra bases. She also added an outfield assist.
- Against Saint Peter's, Milam went 3-for-3 with seven RBIs, four runs scored, and two homers. Her fourth inning grand slam broke open a one-run game.
- Against Seton Hall, Milam homered again as she went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
This is the fourth time Milam has been earned a MAAC weekly honor in her career. She was named MAAC Player of the Week twice last season, and was named MAAC Rookie of the Week once in her freshman season.
The Marist softball team returns to action this weekend at the Tennessee State Winter Warm Up Tournament. The Red Foxes will play five games in three days from Friday, March 1 through Sunday, March 3.
