PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island - The Marist water polo team played two matches in the Bruno Invitational, winning one and losing one to move to 3-3 on the season. The Red Foxes started the day off with a 7-4 win over the hosts Brown, but fell 11-7 to Bucknell in their evening match. Grace Doerfler scored four goals throughout the day to lead Marist.
 

BROWN SUMMARY

• The Red Foxes took control early against the Bears, getting out to a 3-0 lead before allowing a goal.
• Grace Doerfler and Susan Cantoni each had two goals to propel Marist.
• Jocelyn Castro, Katherine Tijerina and Sawyer Alter each scored a goal to contribute to the team victory
• Carsen Horvatich made 11 saves in the net to hold Brown to only four points.

BUCKNELL SUMMARY

• Marist dropped their second game of the invitational to Bucknell, who is now 3-0 on the season.
• Doerfler tallied two goals, an assist and a steal to pace the Red Foxes.
• Cantoni, Aminadi Anorve, Lauren Smith, Ariana Singer and Carolyn Gauvin each scored a goal for Marist.
• Five Red Foxes tallied steals.
• Marina Hyham and Carsen Horvatich split time in the net, making three and five saves respectively.

The Red foxes will depart for the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego on Feb. 9-10. The competition is a true tournament, featuring top ranked teams such as #1 USC, #3 UCLA, #6 UC Irvine and many others. The Red Foxes are seeded to face #13 UC Davis in the first round on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 12:20 p.m.
