LOS ANGELES, California - #20 Marist water polo (11-12, 2-1 MAAC) defeated Pomona-Pitzer 7-5, but fell to #12 Loyola Marymount, 10-6, on day two of the LMU Invitational. The Red Foxes went 2-2 overall at the competition, and will now play the remainder of the schedule in the northeast.

- The teams were tied at 4 in the second period, but the Lions scored four straight goals to pull away from the Red Foxes and earn their fourth win of the weekend.
- Lexi Puhl, Susan Cantoni, Lauren Smith, Aminadi Anorve, and Jocelyn and Justine Castro each scored a goal against the #12 team in the country.
- Carsen Horvatich blocked four shots and grabbed one steal as the goalkeeper.
- Marist had 24 shots compared to LMU's 22, and went 3-for-8 on powerplays while holding the Lions to 0-of-3.
- The Sagehens led 5-3 with 30 seconds left in the first half, but the Red Foxes held them without a goal for the remainder of the game to emerge victorious.
- Justine Castro led the team with two goals, three steals and a drawn exclusion.
- Puhl, Katherine Tijerina, Cantoni, Anais Mathes and Grace Doerfler all scored a goal to power Marist over the Sagehens.
- Hoper Vickers made five saves for a save percentage of 83.3 while grabbing one steal in her three periods in the net.
- The Red Foxes shot 29.2 percent on 24 shots while holding Pomona-Pitzer to 25.0 percent shooting on 20 shots.
Marist heads to Staten Island, NY for the Seahawk Invite. In two days of competition over March 23-24, the Red Foxes will play four matches against MAAC opponents: Villanova, Iona, St. Francis Brooklyn and Siena.
