#20 Water Polo Sweeps Seahawk Invitational

Red Fox Squad Handles St. Francis Brooklyn and Siena

STATEN ISLAND, New York - #20 Marist water polo (15-12, 6-1 MAAC) took care of business on day two of the Seahawk Invitational with a 13-8 win over St. Francis Brooklyn and a 15-8 decision over Siena. The Red Foxes were undefeated at the invitational, with four wins over two days of competition.
 
Marist 13, St. Francis Brooklyn 8
  • Marist led wire-to-wire over the Terriers, and had a seven-goal advantage at one point in the match.
  • Katherine Tijerina provided four goals to pace the Red Foxes.
  • Ariana Singer had another strong game with three points.
  • Grace Doerfler scored a pair and grabbed a steal.
  • Aminadi Anorve, Anais Mathes and Katelin Harris each added a goal to lift Marist.
  • Marina Hyham blocked four shots in the net.
  • Both teams shot over 50.0 percent, but Marist took 22 shots and held St. Francis Brooklyn to 15.
Marist 15, Siena 8
  • Marist led by just one goal at the half, but the Red Foxes scored six goals in the third period while holding the Saints without scoring to pull away for the victory.
  • Anais Mathes was on fire with five goals and a drawn exclusion.
  • Myriam Lizotte recorded a hat trick to contribute to the team total.
  • Katelin Harris scored twice and drew an exclusion.
  • Grace Doerfler, Justine Castro, Tijerina, Lexi Puhl and Kathryn McCullough added a point each to propel the team.
  • Marina Hyham made five saves in the goal.
  • The Red Foxes had 26 shots on 57.7 percent shooting. They held the Terriers to 21 shots on 38.1 percent.
