LEXINGTON, Virginia - The Marist water polo team (9-10) swept La Salle (5-15) and Virginia Military Institute (10-5) to open MAAC competition with a 2-0 record. The Red Foxes scored a season-high 24 goals against the Explorers and only allowed five to start off the day with a win. Later in the afternoon, Marist handled the Keydets 13-5 to sweep the doubleheader.

- Doerfler, Lizotte and Tijerina scored two goals apiece to drive Marist's attack.
- Megan Clarke, Mathes, Justine Castro, Cantoni, Bree Marmion, Gervasi and Katherine McCullough each contributed a goal to lift the Red Foxes over the Keydets.
- Horvatich made nine saves for an impressive percentage of 64.3 with two steals.
Marist will travel to Los Angeles, California for a full weekend of games, and highlighting the competition is MAAC rival #16 Wagner. This will be the Red Foxes' first matchup with the reigning five-time defending conference champions of the season.
