VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania - Marist water polo dominated in the final day of the MAAC regular season, earning a 13-5 win over Iona and a season-high 26-8 victory at Villanova. The Red Foxes shut both teams out in the first period to build huge leads from the onset of the game.

- Marist scored seven goals in the first period while shutting out the Gaels to start off with a big lead. Iona was held to 17.2 percent shooting for the game.
- Anais Mathes led the way with four goals and two drawn exclusions.
- Katherine Tijerina added a hat trick with three assists to orchestrate the offense.
- Grace Doerfler and Myriam Lizotte each scored a pair to contribute to the win.
- Jocelyn Castro and Katelin Harris found the net once apiece to seal the win.
- Carsen Horvatich and Marina Hyham shared time in the net. Horvatich blocked an impressive 15 shots for an incredible save percentage of 88.2, while Hyham stunned the Gaels as well with six saves on a 66.7 percent save rate.
- The Red Foxes shot 43.3 percent on 30 shots.
- Marist built up a 16-2 lead by halftime, and held the Wildcats to 17.0 percent shooting for the win.
- Grace Doerfler was unstoppable with six goals on six shots.
- Lauren Smith and Myriam Lizotte scored four times each, with one and two assists respectively.
- Anais Mathes and Katherine Tijerina added hat tricks, while Aminadi Anorve and Gabi Gervasi tallied two goals apiece.
- Jocelyn Castro and Carolyn Gauvin each scored once and Marist went home with their highest scoring total of the season.
- Horvatich was even better in the second game, with 15 more saves for a percentage of 93.8. Hyham duplicated her first game effort, blocking six shots for a 66.7 save percentage.Â
- The Red Foxes shot 52.0 percent on 50 attempts.
With the end of the MAAC regular season today, the seeding is set for the Conference Championships on April 27-28. #2 Seed Marist will face off with #3 Seed Iona at 2 p.m. on April 27, and the winner will play the winner of #1 Wagner vs. #4 Virginia Military Institute on April 28 at 2 p.m. The losers will play for third place at noon on April 28.
