POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team begins a six-game road trip this weekend, traveling to play Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheaders against Saint Peter's and Manhattan. The Red Foxes will take on the Peacocks on Saturday, April 6, and then take on the Jaspers on Sunday, April 7. First pitch is scheduled for noon each day.
Heading into the weekend, Marist is 17-16 overall and 3-1 in the MAAC. In addition, the Red Foxes have won six of their last eight games overall.
- Marist split a mid-week, non-conference doubleheader with the Hartford Hawks on Wednesday, April 3 at Gartland Field. The Red Foxes defeated Hartford 3-1 in game one, but then fell 4-2 in game two.
- Seniors Brooke Peterson (3 IP), Kallen Leeseberg (2 IP), and Megan Beiermeister (2 IP) combined to allow just one run on five hits with six strikeouts and one walk in the first game.
- Freshman Morgan Gianelle drove in two runs with a two-RBI single in the second inning of game one.
- Freshman Alyssa Yarem had the lone RBI for Marist in game two, while freshman Calista Phippen struck out seven in five innings of relief.
- Freshman Calista Phippen paces the team in wins (10), earned run average (1.19), innings pitched (88.1), and strikeouts (94). Phippen's ERA leads the MAAC and ranks 12th in the NCAA.
- Sophomore Caroline Baratta leads the Red Foxes with a .356 batting average.
- Junior Ali Milam has team highs in home runs (five) and RBIs (28).
- Head coach Joe Ausanio enters the weekend with 298 career victories.
- The Peacocks are 3-24 overall on the season, which includes a 0-2 mark in the MAAC, as well as an 0-2 record in home games.
- Harley Connors leads the team with a .292 batting average. Theamaris Ramirez leads the way with three homers, 10 runs scored, and a .459 slugging percentage.
- Sydney Senerchia leads the pitching staff with 57.1 innings, and has accumulated 40 strikeouts and just 26 walks.
- The Jaspers are 11-16 this season, and 0-2 in the MAAC. However, they boast an impressive 4-1 record in home games.
- Lauren Pitney leads the team in many major offensive categories including batting average (.403), runs (22), homers (6), slugging percentage (.750), and on base percentage (.585). She is also tied for the team lead in RBIs with 22.
- Jessie Rising is 4-5 in 20 appearances, totaling 60.2 innings. Kayla McDermott leads the staff in innings (75) and strikeouts (44).
- The Red Foxes close out their six-game road trip with a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 10 against Army.
- First pitch of game one is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
