Softball Heads To Lafayette

Red Foxes To Face Leopards In Non-Conference Doubleheader Wednesday

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist Softball team will play a non-conference doubleheader at Lafayette on Wednesday. First pitch of game one is set for 3 p.m.
 
About Marist
  • The Red Foxes are on a four-game win streak after taking both games in home doubleheaders against Monmouth (April 19) and Rider (April 28).
  • Against Rider, senior Kallen Leeseberg came on in relief in the fourth inning and got a key strikeout with the bases loaded to help preserve a one-run lead.
  • Marist tied its season high with 15 hits. Sophomore Caroline Baratta, senior Casey Page and freshman Kaley Coltrain all had three hits each. The Red Foxes beat Rider in the first game, 7-3.
  • In game two, freshman Calista Phippen had four strikeouts. Junior Ali Milam had a RBI double to give Marist the 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third. Red-shirt junior Claire Oberdorf went 3-for-3 and had three RBIs to lead Marist to the 5-4 victory in game two.
About Lafayette
  • Lafayette is currently 8-35-1. The Leopards are on a four-game losing streak after dropping three games to Colgate and one game to Fairleigh Dickinson.
  • Senior Brooke Wensel leads the team with a .294 batting average. She has 40 hits including 10 RBIs and one homerun. Freshman Erin Scott leads the team with 18 RBIs on 27 hits.
  • Senior pitcher Stacy Gordon leads the team with 84 strikeouts and 131 innings pitched. She and Kinzi Van Wyk each have four wins.

  • The Red Foxes will close out the regular season this weekend with a trip to western New York.
  • Marist will face Canisius in a Saturday doubleheader starting at 10 a.m., and Niagara in a Sunday doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
