Women’s Tennis To Wrap Up Bucknell Invite

Galu, Tijani March to Sunday In D Singles

LEWISBURG, Pennsylvania – Marist Women's Tennis continued the Bucknell Invite, as the Red Foxes were busy in all five brackets of the tournament.
 
A SINGLES
  • Junior captain Julia Gabay advanced to the fifth place match on Sunday.
 
B SINGLES
  • Sophomore Madison Price will also compete for the fifth place match, beating Anderson of Mount St. Mary's 6-0, 6-1.
  • Freshman Vanessa Ciano was awarded seventh in the bracket.
 
C SINGLES
  • Junior Sophia Chavarria fell to Villanova's Sabina Grigorian 6-3, 2-6, 7-10 on Saturday, moving to the third place match against Bucknell's Rachel Carroll.
  • Freshman Nina McAllan will square off against Megan Smith of Mount St. Mary's in the seventh place match.
 
D SINGLES
  • Junior captain Sam Galu defeated Bucknell's Chloe Zilkha 1-6, 6-4, 10-6 to reach the championship.
  • On Saturday, seniors Amy Galloway and Jada Tijani were victorious against Katie Schisler of Mount St. Mary's (6-0, 6-0) and Mia Pittman of the Mountaineers (6-2, 7-6 (0)), respectively.
  • Sunday's matches will feature Tijani vs. Schisler and Galu vs. Pittman.
 
A DOUBLES
  • Gabay and Galu handled Quintanilla and Davis of Mount St. Mary's 6-1 as well as the Mountaineers' Smith and Lencheski 6-0.
 
B DOUBLES
  • McAllan and Galloway earned fifth place, winning 6-0 over Schisler and Anderson of Mount St. Mary's and 6-3 over Bucknell's Auteri and Ayuso as well as Cook and Pittman of the Mountaineers.
  • Ciano and Chavarria triumphed over Bucknell's Carroll and Zilkha 6-2.

  • The Bucknell Invite concludes on Sunday with the final day of singles play.
