Marist Graduate Myers Continues Playoff Run With Seattle Seahawks

2013 Graduate Is In Fifth NFL Season

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist College graduate Jason Myers is in the midst of a playoff run with the Seattle Seahawks, one that will take him to an iconic NFL venue on Sunday.

Myers is in his first season as the placekicker for the Seahawks, who are the #5 seed in the NFC. Last week, Seattle earned a 17-9 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wild Card Round. This made Myers, who opened the game's scoring with a 49-yard field goal in the first quarter, the first Marist football player to score in and win an NFL playoff game.

Up next for Myers and the Seahawks is a trip to Lambeau Field and a meeting with the NFC's #2 seed, the Green Bay Packers. The game will take place on Sunday, Jan. 12 at 6:40 p.m., and will be televised nationally on Fox.

In the 2019 regular season, Myers converted 23 of his 28 field goal attempts, with a long of 54 yards, and had 40 extra points. He ranked 13th among NFL kickers with 109 points scored. Once again, Myers ranked among the top kickoff specialists in the league, as his 59 touchbacks ranked sixth in the league. On Nov. 11, his 42-yard field goal in overtime led the Seahawks to a 27-24 win over the previously undefeated San Francisco 49ers.

Myers, who is in his fifth season in the NFL, signed a multi-year contract with Seattle in March of 2019. He played for the New York Jets in 2018, and became the first Marist football player to be selected to the Pro Bowl. Myers originally signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in March of 2015, and played for the Jaguars from 2015-17.

Myers is one of two Marist football players to play in the NFL. Terrence Fede was selected in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins, and he played for Miami from 2014-18. Following the 2016 season, Fede became the first Marist football player to appear in an NFL playoff game when the Dolphins faced the Pittsburgh Steelers in the wild card round.

From 2009-12, Myers served as the Red Foxes' primary placekicker and kickoff specialist. He added punting duties during his senior year. He set the program record with a 49-yard field goal in 2011, a distance which was equaled in the 2019 season by Luke Paladino.
