Men's Tennis Prepares For St. John's

Red Foxes Look To Start Spring After Early Cancellation.

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist Men's Tennis begins its 2019-2020 spring season on Saturday, January 25 against St. John's at West Point. First serve is set for 1 p.m. This is the official start to the spring season after a cancellation on Saturday, January 18 against Purdue.
 
FALL REVIEW
  • In its lone MAAC match of the fall campaign, Marist swept Rider 7-0 in Lawrenceville, NJ.
  • The Red Foxes started off the season with wins against UConn, Sacred Heart, and Merrimack in the UConn Invitational.
  • Senior captain Lars Schouten won the Quinnipiac Invitational "A" singles bracket for the second-straight season.
  • He was also one of four Red Foxes to capture wins at the Fordham Four-In-The-Fall Tournament. Juniors John Oxner and Piotr Sowinski were co-champions in the "C" bracket, and redshirt freshman Alexi Watelet was the "E" bracket winner.

PRESEASON POLL
  • Marist was predicted to finish fourth in the 2020 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll earlier in the week.
  • Last season, Marist captured the second seed in the MAAC Championships with a 5-1 conference record.
SOCIAL MEDIA
SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S
  • During the fall 2019 season, St. John's swept Marist 6-0 in singles at the West Point Invite. Out of the six matches that were played, five ended in straight sets.
  • The Johnnies will also compete in a doubleheader against UConn and Army West Point.
  • Junior Aditya Vashistha finished the fall season ranked in the final Oracle/ITA Rankings at No. 44 in the nation. This is the highest ever ranking in St. John's program history.
  • Last year, they went 19-6 overall, including going undefeated in Big East play and winning the Big East championship.

  • Marist will travel to Hamilton, NY to take on Colgate University on Saturday, February 8 at 6 p.m.
