BUFFALO, New York - Day one of the swimming & diving Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships has concluded, with both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams jumping out to a great start to the event. 

SCORES

• The women's swimming and diving team currently sits atop the leaderboard after day one, totaling 113 points. 
• Men's swimming and diving is tied-for-second place.

200-Yard Medley Relay

• The women placed third in the 200-yard medley relay. The team consisting of Juliet Nowak, Georgeanne Zimmerman, Veronica Stureborg, and Megan Lasto clocked in at 1:44.74.
• The men finished in fourth place in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Ahmed Sallam, Jackson Klarsfeld, Pavel Makarchuk, and Ethan McCormac clocked in at 1:30.54.

800-Yard Free Relay

• The women had their best finish so far in the 800-yard free relay, taking second placed. The team consisting of Molly Hewett, Emma Butzler, Jessica Freund, and Sidney Judson finished with a time of 7:37.00.
• The men also finished in second place in the 800-yard free relay, finishing with a time of 6:39.74. The team consisted of McCormac, Murray Coueslant, Adam Kapusta, and Ante Dany.

WOMEN 1-Meter Dive

• Esabelle Gervasio earned a first-place finish in the 1-meter dive, finishing with  283.05 points. The next highest point total was 238.75.
• Grace Reeves scored 218.55 points and Madison Sweeney scored 206.50 points. 

NOTES

• Nowak's time of 25.92 in the 50-yard back portion of the 200-yard medley relay was a school record. 
• Sallam's 22.82 time in the 50-yard back portion of the 200-yard medley relay was also a school record. 
• Gervasio has now won been crowned the MAAC Champion of the 1-meter dive for the past three years. 
• Gervasio's margin fof victory in the 1-meter dive (44.3) was the largest of her career.
