BUFFALO, New York – After two days of competition at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships, the men's swimming and diving team is currently in second place, trailing Rider 255.5-200. The women's team is sitting in third place, trailing first place Fairfield, 228-189.
Today's events included the 500-yard free, 200-yard IM, 50-yard free, men's 3-meter dive, and the 200-yard free relay. In total, Marist had six student-athletes advance to the finals. Prelim Results can be found at the bottom of the recap.
- Raislan Aiken placed second in the 3-meter dive, scoring 297.50 points.
- David Gallino finished right behind Aiken in third place with 236.10 points.
- Ahmed Sallam and Ethan McCormac finished ties for third in the 50-yard free clocking in with the exact same time of 20.62.
- Sallam and McCormac, along with Devin White and Murray Coueslant, took fourth place in the 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:22.91.
Day three of the event begins tomorrow at 10 a.m. The events include: 400-yard IM, 100-yard fly, 200-yard free, 100-yard breast, 100-yard back, women's 3-meter dive, and 400-yard medley relay.
- Raislan Aiken and David Gallino dominated the 3-meter boards, finishing in second and third in the prelims, with scores of 278.85 and 246.65, respectively.
- Ahmed Sallam dominated the 50-yard free, finishing in 20.35 seconds which was easily good for first place (also .14 seconds away from a school record). Ethan McCormac also advanced to the finals, taking sixth place in the prelims with a time of 20.67.
- Michael O'Donovan placed ninth in the 500-yard free with a time of 4:34.98. He narrowly missed a spot in the finals by .45 seconds. Brendan Rice, Adam Kapusta, and John Hurley placed 13th, 14th, and 15th in the event, respectively.
- Ryan Kaplan narrowly missed a spot in the finals in the 200-yard IM, finishing in ninth place with a time of 1:52.29. Jackson Klarsfeld placed 13th.
