POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's lacrosse team defeated the Hartford Hawks, 14-6, on Tuesday night. For the second straight game, the Red Fox defense was able to hold its opponent scoreless for nearly 30 minutes, allowing them to pull away early in the second quarter.
With the win, Marist improves to 3-1 on the season, and remains undefeated at Tenney Stadium. Meanwhile, Hartford drops to 1-3 with the loss, with its only victory coming over Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Canisius.
- Hartford gained control in the first quarter, as a goal from Nicholas Vazquez put them in front 1-0.
- Jason Intermesoli got Marist on the board in the first quarter, evening up the score at 1-1.
- The Red Foxes and Hawks traded goals for the remainder of the first, which led to a tie at 3-3 heading into the second quarter.
- Jojo Pirreca and Joe Tierney scored back-to-back goals to begin the second quarter, putting Marist in front 5-3.
