Schedule Released for Marist Men’s Lacrosse

Red Foxes Ready for 14 Challenging Contests in 2022 Season

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men's lacrosse program has announced its 2022 schedule. A tremendous 14-game regular-season slate is awaiting the Red Foxes after having two consecutive shortened seasons as a result of the COVID pandemic.

The Red Foxes will have five home games and nine on the road, a schedule that features out of conference games against some of the nation's best teams. The challenging non-conference schedule will help them prepare for MAAC play with the ultimate goal of competing for a conference championship.

The Red Foxes open the season against Big Ten foe and 2021 NCAA Quarterfinal participant on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at Rutgers. Rutgers spent the majority of the 2021 season ranked in the top 10 nationally, Marist and Rutgers did not meet during the 2021 season. The last time both teams played was on March 13, 2012, when Rutgers defeated Marist in an intense 10-9 contest at Rutgers.

The rest of the month of February is filled with tough non-conference opponents. On Feb. 12 the Red Foxes will battle America East rival Binghamton for the sixth time since 2015. The Bearcats won the first five meetings in series history, but Marist has won each of the last five meetings and is 5-0 against Binghamton under Head Coach Keegan Wilkinson's guidance. The Red Foxes will travel to take on Richmond on Feb. 19; this is the second consecutive time in the matchup that the Red Foxes will travel to Richmond and the Spiders will be a great challenge. Richmond finished last season receiving votes in both the USILA Coaches Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll after qualifying for their seventh consecutive appearance in the SoCon Championship. The Red Foxes round out February's slate with a home game against Bucknell on Feb. 26.  Marist has never defeated Bucknell in the history of the six-game series, with Bucknell defeating Marist in the last meeting during the 2020 season at Bucknell.

March begins with a visit to Air Force on March 5, who made the SoCon Tournament last season. Marist and Air Force have developed a tremendous out-of-conference rivalry, with three of the last five contests being decided by just one goal. Following the game in Colorado Springs, Marist will be on the road again for a huge test on March 12 against the 2021 CAA Regular Season Champions, the University of Delaware. The Red Foxes have never beat Delaware in the history of the program, the two teams played a dramatic one-goal game in Poughkeepsie in 2020. The Red Foxes lost that contest, 15-14, and are 0-5 in total against the Fightin' Blue Hens.

Marist opens MAAC play on March 19 at home in Tenney Stadium against St. Bonaventure. The Red Foxes were victorious in the last meeting between the two teams in 2019.  This was the first meeting in the history of the series, with Marist prevailing by a final score of 11-5.  MAAC rival, Siena, will then make the trek to Tenney Stadium on March 26, looking for revenge as the Red Foxes have won the last five consecutive games in the match up.

April starts with a game at Quinnipiac on April 2, a rematch of the 2019 MAAC Championship. The Red Foxes will pause MAAC play for two consecutive out-of-conference games surrounding their conference bye week. This will begin on Tuesday, April 5 with a midweek trip to take on Ivy League power Princeton. Ivy League teams did not compete during the 2021 season, but the year prior Princeton was 5-0 and was ranked #3 in the country before the pandemic ended the 2020 season. Then, Marist returns home for its final out-of-conference home game of the season on April 12 against NJIT. The final three MAAC regular season games of the season will close out the schedule starting at Canisius on April 16 and then at Manhattan on April 23. Marist will play conference rival Monmouth to conclude the 2022 regular season at home in Tenney Stadium on April 30.

The MAAC Tournament this season will take place from May 5 to May 7. The host of the tournament will be determined by highest seed. Be sure to follow along on Marist's quest to contend for the 2022 MAAC Championship.
