POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Senior Gianna Tedeschi (women's cross country/track & field) and junior Paul Olivett (football) were named May's Student-Athletes of the Month by Marist's Center for Student-Athlete Enhancement.
 
Tedeschi is a Biology major from Skillman, New Jersey. She is a three-time Dean's List honoree and three-year selection to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic Team. She earned the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Award this spring. Tedeschi has interned at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital and was nominated to the Sigma Theta Honor Society. In cross country, she was a three-time All-MAAC selection and an All-Rookie Team selection. In track, she was named Co-Outstanding Performer of this spring's MAAC Outdoor Championships after winning the 10,000-meter run. She went on to win the silver medal at the ECAC Outdoor Championships in the 10K the following week, and became the first athlete in school history to finish in the top two in both the 5,000 and 10,000 at the event.
 
Olivett is a Communication major from State College, Pennsylvania. He is a Fall 2018 through Fall 2020 Dean's List selection who was named to the Pioneer Football League Honor Roll in 2018 and 2019. Olivett is a Student-Athlete Peer Mentor who also is an academic tutor for students. He serves as President and Founder of Marist's Uplifting Athletes Chapter, which has raised over $8,000 for rare disease research. Olivett also serves as a volunteer youth coach for football and basketball. He interned for Marist's Center for Student-Athlete Enhancement this semester.
