POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The NCAA announced the 2021 women's water polo championship bracket on Monday evening, and #21 Marist received a first-round matchup with #25 Salem.

This year's tournament will take place in Los Angeles, CA, hosted by UCLA. The Red Foxes opening-round matchup with the Tigers will be on Wednesday, May 12 at 2 p.m. EDT. The winner will take on #1 USC on Friday, May 14 at 3 p.m. EDT. Â

The 2021 NCAA Championship will be a single-elimination tournament.

- The University of Salem Tigers are ranked 25th in the nation.
- They defeated Mercyhurst University 8-4 in the WWPA Championships to punch a ticket into the NCAA Tournament.
- The Tigers finished 2021 with a 18-11 overall record.

- This is the first NCAA Appearance for the Red Foxes under the leadership of Head Coach Chris Vidale.
- Marist's last appearance in the NCAA Tournament came in 2010.
- This will be the program's fifth NCAA appearance in program history. Besides 2010, they also came in 2009, 2008, and 2006.
