POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist Director of Athletics
Tim Murray announced on Monday that the Red Foxes' football program will play a home-and-home series with the most historic program in college football.
Marist will face Penn of the Ivy League in a home-and-home series. The series will start with the Red Foxes traveling to Philadelphia to face the Quakers on Oct. 11, 2025. Penn will then face Marist at Tenney Stadium on Oct. 7, 2028.
Marist's trip to Penn is the Red Foxes' second announced game for the 2025 season. On March 31, Marist announced that it will
travel to Army West Point on Sept. 13, 2025.
"We're excited to add a home-and-home series with Penn to our upcoming schedules," Marist head coach
Jim Parady said. "We have a great appreciation for the history and success of the Penn program. It's important for our program to continue adding quality opponents to our future schedules. We look forward to facing both Penn and Army in 2025."
Penn has played 1,403 football games in its history, the most of any NCAA program. The Quakers have 856 all-time wins, the third most in Football Championship Subdivision history, and have captured seven national championships. The program plays its home games at historic Franklin Field, the nation's oldest stadium which has stood since 1895.
These two meetings will be the first for Marist against Penn in program history. Penn will be the fourth Ivy League program the Red Foxes will have faced. Marist will have its fifth all-time meeting against Columbia in the 2021 season, and the Red Foxes faced both Cornell and Dartmouth for the first time in 2019.
"As Marist College football continues to improve, competing against great academic institutions with established football programs like Penn and Army West Point is an important next step," Murray said. The matchups will continue our development and also provide our players with an outstanding student-athlete experience. The challenges of competing against these great programs will only make our athletes better!"
Marist football began as a club program in 1965, and began competing at the varsity level in 1978. The program moved to Division I-AA (now Football Championship Subdivision) in 1993. The Red Foxes began competition in the Pioneer Football League in 2009. Marist has won league titles in 1990, 1994, 2006, 2007, and 2013. Two Marist football players – Jason Myers (Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks – 2015-present) and Terrence Fede (Miami Dolphins, 2014-17) – have played in NFL games.
