POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Maris water polo team will travel to San Diego, California to compete in the Triton Invitational Tournament hosted by UC San Diego on Saturday, February 12^th. Their first of four guaranteed matches is set to start at 3:00 p.m ET against UC Irvine. The opponents to follow will be based off results in the bracket.

• The tournament features four brackets, each with three or four teams. Marist has been placed in Bracket D along with California State University, Northridge (CSUN), University of Hawai'I, and UC Irvine.

 

Last Time Out

• Last time out, Marist competed in the Bruno Classic, hosted by Brown University.
• They went 2-0 in that event, beating Saint Francis PA and Pomona-Pitzer.
• India Alter, Sawyer Alter, and Viktoria Orlova each scored twice across the two games.
• Madeline Schultz scored three goals, raising her yearly total to 9.

 

Scouting UC Irvine

• UC Irvine is 4-2 on the year, with big wins coming against #4 Arizona State and #10 Fresno State. Irvine is currently ranked #7 in the country, according to the College Water Polo Association. Marist comes in at #23.
• Last time out, Irvine beat both Azusa Pacific and Concordia by scores of 19-7 and 23-5, respectively.
