SANTA CLARA, California - After two wins on Saturday, the Marist Water Polo team split on Sunday in Santa Clara, falling to Pacific in game one but taking down Cal State East Bay in overtime in game two.

In game one of the day, the Red Foxes lost to Pacific by a final score of 10-6, snapping their four-game win streak. After starting with two goals in the first quarter, the Red Foxes were blanked in the second and third quarter, which meant they faced an 8-2 deficit heading into the fourth quarter. The Red Foxes battled back, scoring four goals in the final frame to get back into striking distance, but Pacific was able to do just enough to hold onto the victory. India Alter, Ella Baumgarten, Madeline Schultz, Victoria Padilla, Shinae Carrington, and Kaylee Brard all recorded a goal for the Red Foxes.

Marist bounced back in game two, battling with Cal State East Bay all throughout regulation, and eventually sneaking past them in overtime. The Red Foxes took a 7-5 lead into halftime, however the Pioneers would battle back with seven second-half goals to force overtime. In overtime, the Red Foxes stayed strong on defense, allowing only one goal while scoring four goals. Jessica Ingram got the win for Marist in the goal, while Madeline Schultz (four goals), Victoria Padilla (three goals), Kaylee Brard (three goals), Viktoria Orlova (two goals), and Shinae Carrington (two goals) all scored more than one goal to lead the Red Foxes to a 16-13 lead.

The Red Foxes finished the weekend with a 3-1 record to improve their overall record to 7-7 on the season. The girls head home to host the Courtney Fisher Invite next weekend, facing off against Mercyhurst and St-Francis Brooklyn at 10:30 am and 6:00 pm, respectfully.
