POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Sophomore third baseman
Miah McDonald of the Marist softball team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday.
McDonald hit .500 (6-for-12) with a 1.683 OPS (1.083 slugging, .600 on-base), two home runs, eight RBIs, six runs scored, three stolen bases, and two walks in Marist's five games at the Bear Down Fiesta tournament, which included games against nationally-ranked Arizona plus UNLV and Yale. She had three games with multiple RBIs, and two multi-hit games. McDonald also played a flawless third base, as she handled 16 chances (13 assists, three putouts) without committing an error.
Against Yale on March 11, McDonald went 2-for-3 with a homer, two RBIs, two runs scored, stolen base, and walk in Marist's 9-0 win. Later that day, she went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, a run scored, and stolen base against UNLV. On March 12, she went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, two runs scored, a homer, a stolen base, and a hit by pitch in Marist's 8-6 win over Yale. Her two-run single keyed a six-run Marist first as the Red Foxes erased an early 3-0 deficit. The following day, she had a double, walk, run scored, and RBI against Arizona.
On the season, McDonald leads the Red Foxes in home runs (three), runs batted in (16), stolen bases (five), slugging percentage (.604), and OPS (.986).
This is the first weekly honor of McDonald's career. She is the third Red Fox to earn a MAAC award this season, all of which have come in the last three weeks:
