Softball Returns to Action with Doubleheader at UAlbany

Red Foxes Set for Two Against Great Danes on Wednesday

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team will be taking on UAlbany in a doubleheader on Wednesday. The games are set for 2  p.m. and 4 p.m.
 
Last Time Out
  • The Red Foxes played 11 games in Arizona and California on their Spring Break trip.
  • Marist concluded the trip in Stockton, California in the Mizuno Classic. From Thursday, March 17 through Saturday, March 19, the Red Foxes took part in 5 games.
  • They finished the invitational 2-3, with wins coming against the Pacific Tigers, 6-5 in their first meeting, 4-3 in their second. 
  • Freshman Maddie Pleasants pitched in all five of their games, adding 22 strikeouts to her season total.
  • On the season, Shea Walsh is hitting a team-best .364, Caroline Baratta has a team-best four homers, and Miah McDonald leads the Red Foxes with 17 RBIs.
 
Scouting UAlbany
  • The UAlbany Great Danes are 8-8 this season, and they too have yet to play a game in their conference.
  • They were supposed to play in two doubleheaders this past weekend, but their Sunday games against Manhattan were canceled. They went 1-1 on Saturday against Colgate University, with game one ending in a narrow 2-1 defeat, and game two ending in a 2-0 victory. The Great Danes' doubleheader against Rhode Island on Tuesday was also canceled.
  • Caitlyn Mitros is the leader in runs for the team, with 12 runs. She is also the hits leader, with 21. 
  • This will be the first meeting between the teams in 2009.
Up Next
  • The Red Foxes kick off their MAAC campaign with two doubleheaders on the road.
  • They play at Niagara at noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, and then at Canisius at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 3.
