Red Foxes Extend Win Streak to Five Games

BOSTON, Massachusetts - The Marist water polo team picked up two wins at the Harvard Invite on Saturday, defeating Cal State East Bay and Cal Lutheran to extend their winning streak to five games. 
 
MARIST 12, CAL STATE EAST BAY 10
  • Marist battled hard in the first half, heading into the break with a 7-4 lead. 
  • After the half, Cal State East Bay came out of the gates hot, scoring two goals in the third quarter and holding Marist to just one. 
  • In the fourth quarter, both teams found the back of the net four times, however Marist was able to hold on to a 12-10 victory. 
  • Madeline Schultz led the way for the Red Foxes with four goals, while Viktoria Orlova added three goals herself. 
  • Sawyer Alter and Ella Baumgarten each scored twice, and senior Myriam Lizotte also scored a goal.
MARIST 15, CAL LUTHERAN 13
  • The Red Foxes trailed 5-4 after the first quarter, but battled back to take a 9-8 lead by halftime.
  • Schultz again led the Red Foxes with four goals, bringing her goal total to eight on the day.
  • Orlova continued her solid afternoon, adding another three goals in this game.
  • Marina Hyham had five saves in net.
  • In total, nine Red Foxes scored, which was enough for a 15-13 victory.
UP NEXT
  • Marist travels to Arizona next weekend for four games at the ASU Invite. The Red Foxes will square off against Azuza Pacific and Arizona State on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., respectfully. On Sunday, the Red Foxes take on Harvard at noon, and conclude the weekend against Ottawa at 3 p.m.
