POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist softball has four games slated for this weekend as it begins Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play with a trip to western New York.
The Red Foxes will travel to Niagara in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon. On Sunday, the Red Foxes will play at Canisius for another doubleheader beginning at noon, with the contests being televised on ESPN3.
- Marist split a doubleheader at UAlbany this past Wednesday after returning to action for the first time in 11 days.
- Graduate student Caroline Baratta was named MAAC Student-Athlete of the Week.
- Junior Shea Walsh continues to thrive, leading the team in hitting with a .372 batting average and .878 OPS.
- Marist enters their first conference matchup of the season at 12-16.
- The Niagara Purple Eagles are 4-9 and are yet to play any conference games this season.
- Most recently, Niagara was swept in a doubleheader by St. Bonaventure on Thursday.
- Kelsey Harrigan and Maggie Kellner have paced the Niagara offense by hitting .395 and .350, respectively.
- Marist is 34-20 all-time against Niagara. The teams last met in 2019. The Red Foxes earned a victory in the MAAC Championship over the Purple Eagles, and the teams split a doubleheader on the final day of the regular season.
