Red Foxes Looking to Extend Win Streak Even Further

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist water polo team is heading into its final few games of the regular season this week, and it all kicks off on Friday against Siena College. The team is in high spirits heading into the tail end of the season as they look to lengthen their current eight-game win streak.

Last Time Out
  • The Red Foxes played two MAAC games last week in Lexington City, Virginia. They won their first game against Virginia Military Institute, 14-8, and crushed St. Francis-Brooklyn by a pretty comfortable margin, 23-6.
  • Over the two games, Madeline Schultz was the highest scorer, netting twice against VMI and five times against St. Francis-Brooklyn.
  • In the match against VMI, 11 Red Foxes scored at least one goal.
  • In the match against St. Francis-Brooklyn, goalkeeper and reigning MAAC Defensive Player of the Week Marina Hyham made 11 saves.
 
SCOUTING SIENA
  • The Siena Saints are currently 4-22 overall, 1-12 in the MAAC.
  • Their most recent match was a MAAC game against Long Island University, where the team fell to the Sharks, 17-8.
  • The Saint's top scorer is Georgia Vargas with 63 goals, but their point leader is Bianca Prinsloo with 76 points (54G, 22A).
  • Their most frequently played goalkeeper is Anna Mossakowski, whose save percentage is .243.
  • The Red Foxes have only lost to the Saints once (42-1). Their most recent meeting resulted in a 24-10 victory for the Red Foxes on March 19.
 
SCOUTING LIU
  • The Long Island University Sharks are currently 21-5 this season, 10-1 in the MAAC.
  • They too are on a winning streak, adding their 7th consecutive win last week against Siena, 17-8.
  • The College Women's Water Polo Association ranks LIU at 23rd in the nation, the Red Foxes are 25th.
  • The Shark's top goal scorer and points leader is Paola Dominguez, who has 80 points (73G, 7A).
  • Their starting goalkeeper is Julia Zebak, whose save percentage is .287.
  • Against the Sharks, the Red Foxes have won the sole game they played, resulting in a 16-8 victory on Feb. 22, 2020.
 
SCOUTING WAGNER
  • The Wagner College Seahawks are 29-3 overall, and undefeated in the conference, 13-0.
  • Their last match resulted in a 19-10 victory for them against Iona College.
  • The College Women's Water Polo Association ranks Wanger at 15th in the nation.
  • The Seahawks' points leader is Malia Josephson with 149 points (75G, 74A), but the team's top goalscorer is Abbey Simshauser with 81 goals.
  • Their starting goalie is Kristina Bell, whose save percentage is .522. The team's overall save percentage is .488.
  • Against the Seahawks, the Red Foxes are 13-37. Their last meeting ended in a 19-12 defeat for Marist on March 26 of this year.
