Softball Set to Open MAAC Championship Play

Fifth-Seeded Red Foxes Face Fourth-Seeded Rider Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.

BUFFALO, New York – Fifth-seeded Marist will open the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Softball Championship on Wednesday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex.
 
Schedule
  • The MAAC Championship uses a double elimination format, and is hosted by top-seeded Canisius.
  • Marist will open play against fourth-seeded Rider on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. This game, and all contests in the championship, will be carried live on ESPN+.
    • If Marist defeats Rider, the Red Foxes will return to action against top-seeded Canisius on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
    • If the Red Foxes fall to Rider, they will play immediately afterward against the loser of the day's first game between third-seeded Siena and sixth-seeded Iona in Wednesday's final game, currently scheduled for 4 p.m. The winner of Wednesday's final game will advance to Thursday, and the loser will have its season come to an end.

  • Marist enters the championship at 24-28 overall, and went 11-9 in MAAC regular-season play.
  • Marist was the last team to clinch a spot in the championship field. The Red Foxes and Saint Peter's were the last two contenders for the final berth, and played a doubleheader on Monday. Marist clinched with a 12-2 game one victory in five innings, and then added an 8-0 triumph in game two.

    • Marist dropped two games to #4 Rider at home, falling by scores of 3-2 and 5-3 on May 1.
