Men’s Lacrosse Welcomes Seven Newcomers for 2023 Season

New Red Foxes Include Six Freshman & One Transfer

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- Marist head men's lacrosse coach Keegan Wilkinson has announced the addition of seven players for the 2023 season.
 
The newest Red Foxes are Vinny Butrico, Drew Anderson, Kevin Radmann, Peter Murrary, PJ Oppenheimer, Josh Arneson and Aiden McCaffrey.
 

"Our program is so thrilled to welcome the newest group of recruits to the Marist lacrosse program. This accomplished group of student-athletes have proven during the recruiting process that they are excited about competing alongside our current group of players and will be dedicated to helping the program get back to the MAAC Championship," said Wilkinson. "Our staff is incredibly excited to welcome this talented and loyal group of young men to the Marist Lacrosse family." 

 
Vinny Butrico

6'0 | Attack | Levittown, New York | General Douglas MacArthur High School
  • The two-sport standout played four years of varsity lacrosse at General Douglas MacArthur High School after transferring from Island Trees High School.  At Island Trees, Butrico was a member of the varsity wrestling team as just a 7th grader, he was named All County for his performance on the mat 3 times in his career and placed 6th in Nationals as a high school freshman.
  • Butrico finished his four-year career with 106 points. Due to injury, Vinny missed most of his senior season. In the five games he played this past spring he averaged 5 points per game, collecting 23 goals and two assists.
  • Prior to his senior season at MacArthur he named one of the Top 100 Lacrosse players on Long Island by Newsday.
  • He earned Rookie of the Year in 9th grade and All-County following his junior season.
  • Also a stand out in the classroom, Butrico graduated on the High Honor roll, received a NSHSS invitee and was a MacArthur Renaissance card holder.
 
Drew Anderson

5'11 | Midfield | Los Alamitos, California | Los Alamitos High School
  • Anderson collected 205 points over three seasons at Los Alamitos as a midfielder.
  • This spring he was recognized as one of the best 60 lacrosse players from the west when he named an Adrenaline All-American.
  • Being named his team MVP, his senior year in which he finished with 42 goals and 43 assists, while also serving as team captain.
  • His performance during his senior year led him to be selected to the 1st Team All CIF Team and 1st Team All County.  This marked his 3rd time being named to All League and All County during his high school career.
  • Anderson was named an All Star at the Inside Lacrosse Invitational in 2021 and was selected to represent the West Coast two times at the Nike National All-Star Games.
 
Kevin Radmann

5'8 | Midfield / Face Off Specialist | Port Jefferson Station, New York | Comsewogue High School
  • A three-sport athlete, Radmann played football, wrestling and lacrosse at Comsewogue High School. Radmann's overall record for wrestling as a senior was 32-5, he was an Individual League Champion and Comsewogue was crowned League Champions.
  • His performance as a three-sport athlete for all four years of his high school career garnered him recognition as a Section 11 Gold Key Award winner.
  • Radmann proved to be one of the most versatile lacrosse players on Long Island during his career, collecting 102 ground balls, 23 caused turnovers and finished his career with winning 59% of his faceoffs. He also scored two goals and had seven assists.
  • In his final season, he picked up 57 ground balls, added 12 caused turnovers and won 56% of his face offs.
  • Radmann twice helped lead his lacrosse team to Suffolk Class B County Championships as a junior and senior, for his performance he was named All-County his senior year. His junior year was named All-Division and All-County Honorable Mention.
 
Peter Murray

6'2 | Attack | Caldwell, New Jersey | James Caldwell High School
  • Murray was a four-year varsity lacrosse player, led the team in goals, assists and points for two consecutive years. Murray holds single game points record (11) at James Caldwell High School.
  • Over his four-year career, Murray scored 113 goals, collected 55 assists, and added 80 groundballs.
  • Murray was twice named First Team All Division and First Team All-Conference and was named First Team All-State for his performance his senior year.
  • A four-year varsity starter for James Caldwell High School football team, Murray received the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete Award after his senior year in which he led the football team to a New Jersey State Championship.
  • He also excelled in the classroom, earning High Honor Roll all four years of high school and was a Peer Leader for two years.
 
PJ Oppenheimer

6'5 | Attack | Conshohocken, PA | Lasalle College High School
  • Oppenheimer capped off an amazing high school career during his senior year with 63 points, 53 goals and 10 assists.
  • This past season he helped lead Lasalle to its 6th consecutive Catholic League Championship and an appearance in the PIAA State playoffs. As a freshman, Oppenheimer was a member of the PIAA State Championship team.
  • In his career, he was recognized as First Team All-Catholic and Second Team All-Catholic.
  • Peace Lacrosse ranked Oppenheimer one of the Top 50 recruits in the nation leading into his junior year at Lasalle.
  • PJ was a two-sport athlete at Lasalle College High School, where he was a member of the lacrosse and water polo team.  In the pool, Oppenheimer was named 1st Team All State as a water polo standout.  
 
Josh Arneson

5'8 | Defense | Holly Springs, North Carolina | Holly Springs High School
  • Arneson was named USA Lacrosse All American following a dominant senior year where he collected 44 ground balls and added 21 caused turnovers.
  • As a senior, Arneson was named Conference Defensive Player of the Year, along with earning 1st team All-Conference.
  • Arneson finished his high school career with 127 ground balls and had 81 caused turnovers, cementing himself as one of the best defenders in the state of North Carolina.
  • He was selected to the 2022 Southeast Senior Showcase, where he was named Defensive MVP.
  • Josh joins his brother Noah Arneson, who will be a junior this year at Marist. This is the tenth set of brothers to join the program during Head Coach Keegan Wilkinson's tenure.
 
Aiden McCaffrey

6'0 | Port Jefferson Station, New York | Comsewogue High School | Transfer from University of Delaware
  • McCaffrey was a four-year varsity lacrosse starter and served as team captain in 2021.
  • He capped off an outstanding career at Comsewogue by leading his team to a Suffolk County Championship, an appearance in the Long Island Championship game, and a Top-25 ranking in the country by USA Lacrosse Magazine.
  • McCaffrey was named an All-American as a senior, and twice earned Al-County and All-Division honors in 2021 and 2019.
  • Like Butrico, McCaffrey was named one of the Top 100 lacrosse players on Long Island by Newsday while also being recognized as one of the Top 100 recruits in the entire country by Inside Lacrosse.
  • Also a standout in the classroom, McCaffrey was two-year honor roll student.
