POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist head women's basketball coach
Brian Giorgis has announced the addition on his coaching staff.
Kiah Gillespie has been named as assistant coach of the Red Foxes.
Gillespie split her collegiate years at the University of Maryland and Florida State University. She served as team captain at Florida State University for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons. In her final year, she earned WBCA Honorable Mention All-American, WBCA Region Finalist, USBWA Honorable Mention All-American, and her list of achievements continues. She earned All-ACC First Team two times and was named ACC Player of the Week three times. Gillespie is a member of the 1,000-point club.
After graduating from Florida State, Kiah was drafted 32
nd to the Chicago Sky in the 2020 WNBA Draft. She continued her playing career as she played overseas for the FIBAS Overseas in Toulouse, France.
"Kiah is a legend in college women's basketball, she was player of the year in Connecticut and an outstanding player at Maryland, " Giorgis said. "She was drafted to play overseas and now wants to get into the coaching world. She was a tremendous player and brings a lot of post player experience from the highest levels of the game. We are excited and fortunate to not only have an extraordinary player, but an incredible person added to our staff."
Giorgis is entering his 21
st and final season as head coach of the Red Foxes in the 2022-23 season. In addition, Erin Doughty is entering her 18
th season wit the team and her fifth as Associate Head Coach. Doughty will take over as head coach on April 1, 2023.
