POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist women's lacrosse team earned its first win of the season, defeating the Merrimack Warriors by a score of 16-12 on Sunday afternoon at Tenney stadium.

• Merrimack opened the scoring less than a minute into the game.
• Kerri Gutenberger responded for the Red Foxes making it 1-1 with 12:51 to go in the first.
• At the 4:16 mark, Kelly Trotta scored to give Marist a 2-1 lead. 
• The Warriors responded less than a minute later to tie the score at two apiece.
• With 2:32 left in the first quarter, Trotta found Gutenberger who fired it into the back of the net to give Marist a 3-2 lead.
• Gutenberger completed the hat-trick on an assist by Maddie Schrader to put the Red Foxes up 4-2 at the 13:50 mark in the second quarter.
• A pair of Merrimack goals less than two minutes apart tied the score at 4-4 with 10:59 remaining in the second.
• Trotta used a free-position shot to give the Red Foxes a one goal advantage at the 5:54 mark. Less than a minute later, Trotta found the back of the net again to complete the hat-trick and make it 6-4.
• Gutenberger scored her fourth goal of the game on a free-position shot at 4:40 to put Marist up 7-4.
• The Red Foxes' offensive momentum continued as Alexa Borges scored her first goal of the season with 1:44 remaining in the first half to make it 8-4.
• Schrader scored after a pass from Olivia Arntsen to get the scoring going in the second half and make it 9-4 with 12:01 to go in the third. Less than 30 seconds later, Trotta scored her fourth goal of the game and 10th of the season to put the Red Foxes up 10-4.
• The Red Foxes continued to pour it on as Arntsen found the back of the net at the 10:34 mark to make it 11-4.
• Merrimack scored their first goal of the second half at 8:08, making it 11-5.
• Arntsen responded with her second goal of the game to put Marist back up seven with 6:14 to go in the third.
• The Warriors added two goals less than two minutes apart to make it 12-7.
• Merrimack scored with two seconds remaining in the third quarter to to get them within four.
• Caitlin McNaboe scored her first goal of the season at the 13:43 mark in the fourth quarter to extend Marist's lead to 13-8.
• A free-position goal from Merrimack made it 13-9 with 11:55 to go in the game.
• At 10:27 Gutenberger scored her fifth goal of the game and 10th of the season on an assist by Arntsen to push the lead to 14-9.
• Less than a minute later the Warriors responded with another goal to get them back within four.
• Jamie McPherson used a free-position shot to extend the Red Foxes' lead back to five, making it 15-10 with 5:36 to go.
• Less than a minute later Merrimack scored to make it 15-11.
• Trotta scored her fifth goal of the game on another assist by Arntsen at 3:51 to make it 16-11.
• With 2:22 remaining in the game, the Warriors added another goal to get back within four.

• Kelly Trotta led the way for the Red Foxes, finishing with five goals and two assists.
• Kerri Gutenberger scored five goals as well.
• Olivia Arntsen gave the Red Foxes three people with five or more points as she contributed two goals and three assists.
• Maddie Schrader and Jamie McPherson each recorded one goal and one assist.
• Alexa Borges and Caitlin McNaboe scored one goal each.
• Miranda Lopes had 10 saves for the Red Foxes.

• Marist will head to Hempstead, New York to face off against Hofstra on Wednesday, Mar. 1.
