Haley Ahr Named MAAC Player & Rookie of the Week

Red-Shirt Freshman Earns Both Honors for Second Time in Three Weeks

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Red-shirt infielder Haley Ahr of the Marist softball team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player and Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. This is the second time in three weeks that Ahr has earned both honors.
 
Haley Ahr hit .533 (8-for-15) with a 1.321 OPS (.733 slugging, .588 on-base) as Marist went 3-2 at the Maroon & Gold Challenge in Charleston, South Carolina. Ahr added four stolen bases, four RBI, three doubles, two runs scored, a walk, and a hit by pitch. She had three multi-hit games, reached base safely in all five games, and did not strike out once.
 
In a win over Cleveland State on March 3, Ahr went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a run scored, a double, and a stolen base. Later that day in a win over College of Charleston, Ahr went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and a run scored. She closed out the tournament by driving in the game's only runs in a 2-0 triumph over Cleveland State on March 5.
 
This season, Ahr leads the Red Foxes in batting average (.400), OPS (1.035), runs batted in (16), hits (20), and doubles (six).
 
Marist will play its next 10 games in Tampa, Florida as part of its Spring Break trip. The Red Foxes will play five games this weekend in the University of South Florida's Tournament, starting with two on Friday against Penn State (4:30 p.m.) and Saint Francis (7 p.m.).
