POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The annual Marist Football Spring Game was held Friday night at Tenney Stadium, and came down to the game's final play.
Â
A 47-yard field goal by
John Reyes with no time remaining lifted Offense to a 31-30 victory over Defense. This year's game used a point scoring system in which Offense received points for traditional scoring plays, and Defense earned points for turnovers, scores, tackles for losses, three-and-outs, and holding the Offense on fourth down.
Â
Quarterback
Brock Bagozzi scored a pair of rushing touchdowns. The Offense also received a rushing touchdown from
Carter James, and a touchdown pass from
Cole Boyd to
Jake Ciolino.
Â
The Boyd-Ciolino touchdown connection occurred after an interception by
Suraj Fong with the Offense deep in its own territory.
Nick Vecchiarelli also had an interception.
Kyle Coffindaffer,
Kanye Davis, and
Dominic Dutton were among those who were active behind the line of scrimmage.
Â
Offense led for a majority of the game, but Defense closed the gap and took the lead late. The Defense was up 30-28 when the kicking team rushed onto the field in the final seconds without taking a timeout, and Reyes' long field goal provided the final points.
