Men's Lacrosse Defeats Quinnipiac to Move On

Dylan Bedell Collects Career High of 30 Face Off Wins

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Third-seeded Marist used an offensive explosion to beat sixth-seeded Quinnipiac 29-19 in the quarterfinal round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship at Tenney Stadium.
 
Summary
  • The Red Foxes jumped out to an early 2-0 lead less than a minute into the game as Jamison Embury and Jojo Pirecca each found the back of the net.
  • Jake Deacy ripped a shot off a feed from Pirecca to make it 3-0 at the 12:04 mark.

  • The Embury brothers connected out of a timeout as Jamison ripped a shot off a feed from Hunter with eight seconds left to give the Red Foxes a 14-11 lead heading into the locker room.
  • The Red Foxes opened the third quarter with three unanswered goals. J. Embury scored his fourth of the game while Stephen Bickel and Joshua Balcarcel each scored their first.
  • The Bobcats scored one at the 8:07 mark to make it 17-12.
  • H. Embury scored his second goal of the game to push the Red Foxes' lead back to six.
  • With 3:22 remaining in the third quarter Quinnipiac added another goal, but J. Embury retaliated five seconds later for his fifth goal of the night.
  • The Bobcats scored with 13 seconds left in the third to cut the lead to five.
  • Pirreca opened the fourth quarter with his second goal of the night to make it 20-14
  • In a man-up situation, the Bobcats scored to get back within five.
  • The Red Foxes responded with eight unanswered goals. Pirreca completed the hat trick off an assist by Balcarcel. J. Embury fired home his sixth goal of the night and then set up Sean Kelliher in a man-up situation. Pirreca scored his fourth of the night on an assist by Dylan Bedell. Bickel scored his second of the night on an assist by Deacy and then Deacy scored off a feed from DeRaeve. Ferrel completed the hat trick and then Anthony Filippetti scored his first goal of the season to make it 28-15 with 2:48 to go in the game.

  • Pirreca scored the final goal for the Red Foxes with one minute remaining.

  • The 29 goals are the most in Marist men's lacrosse history.
  • Jamison Embury and Jojo Pirreca led the way with eight points each.
