POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist softball team earned another two awards from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Maddie Pleasants was named Player of the Week and Senior
Kiley Myers was named Pitcher of the Week. This is Pleasants' second MAAC weekly award this season and it is the third for Myers.
Pleasants hit .667 with a 2.325 OPS (1.556 slugging, .769 on-base) in Marist's four games this past week. She hit safely in all four games, drove in five runs, homered twice, had four extra base hits, and drew four walks. In game one of a doubleheader against Quinnipiac on April 28, she homered twice, drove in four, and walked twice in Marist's 8-0 win. She then singled and walked in game two as Marist prevailed 8-0 again. In game one of a doubleheader against Manhattan on May 1, Pleasants had an RBI double. She was not retired in Marist's 9-0 game two win, as she singled, doubled, and walked.
Myers pitched a two-hit shutout and a one-hit shutout her two outings this past week. She went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. In 11 innings, she struck out nine, walked no one, and allowed just three hits. She averaged 9.8 pitches per innings in her two starts. Against Quinnipiac on April 28, Myers allowed just two hits and struck out three in six innings while throwing just 57 pitches. Against Manhattan on May 1, Myers pitched in a one-hitter in a five-inning victory with six strikeouts while needing just 51 pitches.
