POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball program has captured two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference major awards.
Maddie Pleasants was honored as MAAC Player of the Year, and
Haley Ahr was named MAAC Rookie of the Year.
Additionally, Pleasants and Ahr were named First Team All-MAAC.
Sam Freeland,
Kiley Myers, and
Peyton Pusey were named Second Team All-MAAC. Ahr and Pusey were named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team. The Red Foxes also had 12 selections to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
Here are the Red Foxes' honorees:
- MAAC Player of the Year, First Team All-MAAC
- Program's first MAAC Player of the Year since 2009 (Melissa Giordano).
- In MAAC play, had a conference-best eight home runs to go along with a conference-best .864 slugging percentage. Hit .407 in conference games with 23 RBIs.
- Is 33rd in the NCAA and first in the MAAC in toughest to strike out (once every 21.1 at bats, just once in 59 at-bats in MAAC games).
- Was named MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year and to the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2022.
- MAAC Rookie of the Year, First Team All-MAAC, MAAC All-Rookie Team (unanimous)
- The Red Foxes have now won the MAAC Rookie of the Year five of the last seasons it has been issued (Claire Oberdorf, 2016; Caroline Baratta, 2018; Calista Phippen, 2019; Maddie Pleasants, 2022; Haley Ahr, 2023).
- MAAC leader in all games with 45 RBIs and leads the Red Foxes with a .386 batting average.
- Is 16th in the country in doubles (16).
- Won eight MAAC weekly awards this season (five rookie, three player).
- Second Team All-MAAC
- Second in the MAAC in stolen bases this season, with 25. Is 25-for-26 on stolen base attempts this year, with 25 straight successful attempts.
- Has 50 career stolen bases, which is tied for third all-time in program history.
- Finished the regular season with an 11-game hitting streak.
- Second Team All-MAAC
- Went 8-1 with a 1.60 ERA in MAAC games this season, ranking second in both victories and ERA with a conference-best four shutouts.
- Her .214 batting average against in MAAC games ranked fourth.
- Closed the regular season with three straight shutouts and 19.1 straight scoreless innings.
- Second Team All-MAAC, MAAC All-Rookie Team
- Tied for the MAAC lead with 20 runs scored in conference play and hit .356 in conference games.
- Is 18-for-19 on stolen base attempts this season.
- Has a team-high 43 runs scored, which is tied for seventh highest single-season total in program history.

- Marist is the third seed in this year's MAAC Championships, which open on Wednesday.
- The Red Foxes will face sixth-seeded Iona at 11 a.m. at Canisius.
