SANTA BARBARA, California- The Marist women's water polo team competes in its first four games of the season, starting Saturday morning. The Red Foxes play three-ranked opponents in two days of play.

The Red Foxes start the season ranked 25 in the CWPA national rankings. This marks the second consecutive season the Red Foxes place in the top 25 to start the season.
 

Saturday, Jan. 20

• The Red Foxes open the season against Whittier College on the first day of play.
  • This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the Red Foxes and Poets.
  • In 2014, the Red Foxes defeated the Poets 12-3 in their last match.
• The Red Foxes continue play against third ranked UCLA in the Invitational.
  • This will be the third all-time meeting between the Red Foxes and Bruins.
  • Last season, the Bruins finished 21-8 overall on the season.
  • The Bruins fell to eventual NCAA champion, Stanford, in the second round of NCAA Championship play.

Sunday, Jan. 21

• In the third match of the season, the Red Foxes play 10^th ranked UC San Diego.
  • In their last meeting, the Red Foxes fell to the tritons 14-5 in 2020.
  • Last season, the Tritons finished 14-17 overall on the season.
  • The Tritons fell in the Big West Semifinal 12-6 against UC Irvine.
• In the final match of the UCSB Winter Invitational, the Red Foxes play fellow 25^th ranked Pomona-Pitzer.
  • The Red Foxes hold a 5-1 overall record against Pomona-Pitzer.
    • In 2022, the Red Foxes defeated the Sagehens 14-5.
  • The Sagehens play in Division III and have won the SCIAC 11 times.
