POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Red-shirt freshman tight end
Jackson Conners-McCarthy of the Marist football team was named Honorable Mention Football Championship Subdivision All-American by The Associated Press.
Â
Connors-McCarthy is the first freshman in program history to be honored by the Associated Press. He is Marist's fourth AP honoree in program history, and first since 2021, when Clayborne Fields III was named to the Third Team. Fields signed a contract with the Indianapolis Colts this past summer. The previous AP honorees were Zach Adler (2014, Third Team) and Terrence Fede (2013, Second Team). Fede was Marist's first NFL draft choice in program history, when he was selected by the Miami Dolphins in 2014.
Â
Conners-McCarthy led the Red Foxes in receptions (50) and receiving yards (441) this season. His total of receptions (33), receiving yards (326), and receiving touchdowns (three) were the most of any tight end in Pioneer Football League play and the most of any PFL freshman in league play. He added 64 rushing yards on seven attempts.
Â
On Oct. 5 at Davidson, Conners-McCarthy had a season-high 101 receiving yards and a touchdown on five receptions. He added 29 rushing yards on two attempts.
Â
Conners-McCarthy was named Second Team All-Pioneer Football League on Dec. 3.
