POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team is set to open the 2024 season on Friday at the Abilene Christian Tournament.

• Friday, Feb. 16: Houston Christian (11 a.m.), New Mexico (2 p.m.)
• Saturday, Feb. 17: Houston Christian (1 p.m.)*, Abilene Christian (6 p.m.)*
• Sunday, Feb. 18: New Mexico (10:30 a.m.)

 
*-These are new game times that were announced on Thursday.
 
All times are Eastern. All games will be streamed on WAC International, and live stats will be available for all through StatBroadcast.
 

2023 Recap

• Marist won its fourth MAAC championship in program history last season. After earning the #3 seed, the Red Foxes won four games in four days in tournament play.

• Marist has 11 returningplayers on this year's team: red-shirt sophomore Haley Ahr, junior Maddie Gore, senior Alyssa Grupp, junior Ronni Howard, junior Kaitlyn Husic, sophomore Isabella Manory, senior Miah McDonald, junior Lauren Morrell, graduate pitcher Kiley Myers, junior Maddie Pleasants, and sophomore outfielder Peyton Pusey.
• The staff of head coach Joe Ausanio and assistant coaches Kristin Erb and Caroline Baratta remains intact. Ausanio is in his 16^th season as head coach.

 

Who's New

• The Red Foxes welcome two transfers: graduate outfielder Sophia Recrosio (Canisius) and junior pitcher Isabella Milazzo (St. Rose)
• Marist has five freshmen on this year's team: outfielder Taylor Anderson, pitcher Stella Blanchard, catcher Rowan Drew, infielder Samantha Rogers, and pitcher Anna Sidlowski.

 

Preseason

• Marist was picked first in the MAAC preseason poll, receiving eight of 11 first-place votes.
• Maddie Pleasants was named MAAC Preseason Player of the Year.
• Pleasants, Haley Ahr, Miah McDonald, and Kiley Myers were named Preseason All-MAAC.
