Marist Track & Field Set For Deneault Invitational

Red Foxes Ready for Final Tune-Up Before MAAC Championships

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist track & field teams are set for Saturday's Marc Deneault Invitational hosted by Cornell University. This meet will serve as a final tune-up for some and an opportunity to rest for others before the MAAC Championships the following weekend. As such, Marist will compete with a partial squad consisting of 23 student-athletes total between the men's and women's teams. This will be the Red Foxes' first time this season competing at Barton Hall in Ithaca, New York. The meet is set to start at 10 a.m. 
 
Last Time Out: Women
  • The 4x400m relay team (4:01.78) consisting of Stephania Granados (1:01.72), Cailin Horton (1:00.56), Julia Kropo (59.83), and Breelyn McNamara (59.70) won its heat and ended with a 28th place finish. Each student-athlete ran a personal best split as they ran the third fastest time in the MAAC this season.
  • Kropo (26.73, 144th) and McNamara (26.78, 148th) also both ran personal best times in the 200-meter dash. Additionally, Granados (1:01.87, 171st) set a new personal best time in the 400-meter dash.
  • Sierra Fisher (3:00.50, 36th) gave the Red Foxes a top-40 finish in the 1,000-meter run setting a new personal record.
  • The Red Foxes also had two student-athletes secure personal best times in the 800-meter run: Kayla Hawkins (2:20.02, 211th) and Mackenzie Schubert (2:29.72, 291st).
Last Time Out: Men
  • Amari Mathis secured a top-10 finish in the 60-meter dash crossing the finish line in 7.05 seconds, good for ninth place.
  • Gabriel Rodriguez secured a new personal best in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:24.79 and finishing in 28th place.
  • Raffi Buchakjian (2:31.23, 42nd) ran a personal best in the 1,000-meter run. Fellow freshman Matthew Ferreri (216th) set a new personal record in the 800-meter run as he finished in 1:57.52.
  • Easton Eberwein had a strong day running sub-50 in both the 400-meter dash (49.48, 72nd) and the 4x400m relay (49.12).

  • Marist track & field will head to the Armory Track in New York, New York on February 24th and 25th for the MAAC Indoor Championships meet.
