Marist Water Polo Drops Matches In Day One Of Convergence

Red Foxes Scored 24 Goals In Two Matches

CLAREMONT, California- The Marist water polo team started the Convergence Tournament, Friday afternoon. The Red Foxes dropped both games to CSUN and Sand Diego State.
 
Match One Vs CSUN
  • After the first quarter of the match, the Red Foxes and CSUN were knotted at 1-1.
  • The Red Foxes scored four goals in the second quarter and limited CSUN to three goals.
    • The Red Foxes led 5-4 at the end of two quarters of play.
  • CSUN scored five goals in the third period and the Red Foxes were limited to two goals.
    • The Red Foxes trailed 9-7 after three quarters of play.
  • The Red Foxes mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter, scoring four goals, but fell in the first match 12-11 against CSUN.
  • Kaylee Brard recorded a hat trick in the match against CSUN.
  • Victoria Padilla and Shinae Carrington recorded a pair of goals each in the match.
  • Inés Sánchez recorded 14 saves in the match against CSUN (.538 save percentage).
  
Match Two Vs SDSU
  • The Red Foxes scored four goals in the first frame but trailed 5-4 after one quarter.
  • Going into halftime, the Red Foxes trailed 8-6 against the Aztecs.
  • The Red Foxes scored four goals in the third quarter but trailed 12-10 after three quarters of play.
  • The Red Foxes fell to San Diego State 15-13.
  • Paige Naegle scored a hat trick in the match against SDSU.
