Softball to Host Mount St. Mary’s for Weekend Series

Marist & Mount Set for Doubleheader Saturday & Single Game Sunday

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist softball team (23-9 overall, 5-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) plays its second home series of the season this weekend at Gartland Field against conference opponent Mount St. Mary's (6-19, 0-5).
 
The Red Foxes and The Mountaineers will play a doubleheader on Saturday with first pitch set for noon. The Sunday game to close out the series is set to start at noon.
 
About Marist
  • The Red Foxes are coming off a 2-1 series win at Niagara last weekend, falling in the first game 7-5 before rebounding in the last two games of the series for 3-2 and 6-1 victories.
  • Last time out, Kiley Myers pitched a complete game, giving up just one run and striking out eight for her 10th win of the season. Myers went 8-1 in March with a 1.54 ERA.
  • In the rubber game against Niagara, Maddie Pleasants led the Red Foxes, going 3-for-3 with five RBIs. Pleasants is now third in the MAAC in RBIs (25).
  • Miah McDonald leads the MAAC in multiple offensive categories, including slugging (.738),  homers (8) and runs batted in (38). McDonald has an eight-game hitting streak, during which she is 14-for-28. McDonald has 99 career runs batted in.
  • Haley Ahr leads the MAAC in batting average (.429), OPS (1.198), and on-base percentage (.495).
  • Alyssa Grupp has a six-game hitting streak in which she is hitting .438, and is 2nd in the MAAC behind Ahr in on-base percentage (.471).
  • Kiley Myers and Anna Sidlowski are tied for conference lead with 10 wins. Sidlowski went 7-1 in March with a 1.13 ERA.
  • Marist has held opponents to a batting average of .250 this season.
 
About Mount St. Mary's
  • The Mount are winless in five conference games, falling in three last weekend against Siena.
  • Prior to recent conference play, Mount St. Mary's swept UMass Lowell in a three-game series by scores 4-2, 4-3, and 4-3.
  • Tori Bowles leads the Mountaineers in most offensive categories including hits (20), RBIs (14), doubles (6) and slugging (.472).
  • Abigayle Perry leads the team in walks (15) and runs (14). Perry is 3rd in the MAAC in stolen bases (12).
  • Sophia Schmehl leads the Mountaineers in pitching with the lowest ERA (3.66) and fewest walks (11). Her two wins are tied with teammates Olivia Murphy and Maddie Coleman.
